Q. What format do my photos need to be in when I submit them for restoration?
A. We can take images in the following formats: prints, negatives, digital images. If we need to scan the photo or negative into a digital image, it may cost extra depending on the size and quality of the original image. Images submitted to us as digital will be no extra cost.
Q. I need an image done ASAP! How fast is the turn around?
A. It all depends on the work that is needed and the quantity. Orders that require little adjustment (ex: color correction, exposure, etc) may only take a few hours. Orders that are substantial in quantity may take a day or two. Images with significant damage could take anywhere from a few days to a week to turn around. We like to see the image before we give you a quote on price, simply because each project requires different time commitments.
Q. Can you make a negative from a digital image?
A. No, we cannot, we do not have the required tools for that type of work.
Q. What is the benefit to having old photographs restored? I thought they were supposed to last forever!
A. Older photographic papers and techniques are different than the archival quality printing that is being used today. Wear and tear on a physical piece of paper is inevitable. Restoring old photographs and turning them into digital images means that the originals can be stored in a safe place and you now have a longer lasting (and often times more vibrant) version of your keepsakes.
